S.H.I.E.L.D.

SHIELD is a speech and debate club offering local participation for Christian homeschooled students. Our goal is to develop knowledge and skills in preparation for life and competition in the NCFCA.

Our club is intended to be more than a meeting, but a network that gives each member resources for ideas and feedback and helps to prepare for the season.


Our mission is to develop our students with skills and knowledge, that will enable them to persuade, think critically and communicate in truth and love.

1. Membership Fees are $200 per family.

2.  In addition, all families must affiliate with NCFCA. Membership is now open for the 25/26 school year. 
The NCFCA affiliation fee for the year is $135 before July 31st. After the early bird discount, affiliation is $160.

3. Each family should participate in at least two NCFCA tournament in the upcoming season. Remember, there will be registration and travel expenses in connection with competing in NCFCA tournaments.

4. At least one parent must attend club meetings with their student(s).  Parents will provide critique and give feedback on speeches and debate rounds at club and will be required to judge at NCFCA tournaments.

5. All families are expected to stay and reset the facility after club meetings.

6. The oldest participating student in the family must be at least 12 years of age by January 1st and be no older than 18 years old on September 1st nor have earned a high school diploma.

7. At NCFCA Tournaments we represent our families and our club. Parents are expected to be present and available each day to judge for tournaments their student participates in. Participants are expected to be respectful to competitors, parents, tournament personnel, staff, and community volunteers. Parents and students must adhere to NCFCA’s Competition Rules and Policies.
